Bedroom storage is mostly about the space you already have and cannot see: under the bed, on top of the wardrobe, and the wall above the headboard.

Under-bed space is the biggest easy win in most UK bedrooms, but it depends entirely on your bed frame. Measure the clearance from floor to underside of the frame before buying anything, and remember divans with drawers need side clearance too. Vacuum-style bags reduce bulk for seasonal bedding, though they suit synthetics and cottons better than down or wool, which prefer to breathe.

The other rule we apply: nothing that makes the room harder to clean. If a storage solution has to be dragged out weekly, it will stop being used by week three.
