Small Spaces

Small-space living in the UK usually means a flat with one storage cupboard, a galley kitchen, and rooms doing two jobs at once. Good small-space storage is vertical, dual-purpose or foldable — ideally all three.

We prioritise items that disappear when not in use: a step stool that folds to a few centimetres, nesting containers, hooks rather than racks. We are wary of furniture that solves one problem and blocks a walkway to do it.

The practical test we apply: does this create usable space, or just move the clutter somewhere less visible? Only the first is worth the money and the floor area.
